SERP API Benchmark 2026: 6 Providers Tested Across 1,009 Queries
We tested 6 leading SERP APIs on 1,009 real queries. Compare accuracy, recall, F1, AI Overview coverage, and zero-result rate. Full methodology and raw dataset inside.
As AI Overviews continue to gain coverage in Google SERPs, the differences between SERP APIs are no longer limited to “whether organic results are accurate.” They now extend to coverage of rich modules such as AI Overview, People Also Ask, and Knowledge Graph.
This report is based on 1,009 real queries tested across 6 SERP APIs: TalorData, SerpApi, Bright Data, Oxylabs, bd_fast, and Serper. Results are reported across 8 quantifiable dimensions.

Dimension-by-Dimension Analysis
Zero-Result Rate
The Zero-Result Rate is the share of the 1,009 queries for which the API returned no results. This metric has significant impact in latency-critical scenarios such as AI Agents and real-time retrieval, often requiring additional fallback logic to compensate.

Observations:
· Four providers — Oxylabs (1.3%), TalorData (2.1%), SerpApi (2.3%), and Bright Data (2.4%) — all have zero-result rates below 3%.
· bd_fast (9.5%) and Serper (12.6%) have relatively higher zero-result rates; production deployments typically need extra retry or multi-source strategies to compensate.
Precision × Recall × F1
Using browser-captured SERPs as Ground Truth, each provider’s returned fields are compared item by item. Precision reflects the accuracy of field values, Recall reflects the completeness of field coverage, and F1 is the harmonic mean of the two.

Observations:
· Oxylabs has a relatively high F1 (86.99) among the six providers, with Bright Data (85.05) and TalorData (84.00) close behind.
· Serper’s F1 (63.84) is noticeably lower than the others, directly tied to its Recall of just 61.37%, reflecting its lightweight product positioning.
· The F1 gap among the top three is within 1 point. Choosing a provider based on F1 alone may lead to misjudgment; decisions should account for the field requirements of the specific use case.
AI Overview Coverage
AI Overviews are a search feature whose coverage continues to expand in Google in 2026. Whether a SERP API can reliably return the structured data of this module determines its usability in GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and brand-citation monitoring scenarios.
